Pinned applications disappear when you logoff

in a windows xp environment, when you pinned an applications and then logoff
and log back on it should stay there. In a user's laptop, when she selects an
application to pin to start menu, it pins but disappears when she logoffs and
log back on. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sorry for being late but at any rate I tried it and it still doing the same
thing, still disappear when I logoff. Any more Ideas?
