PING Works, but not via applications

Hi All,
I am not able to access internet from my PC. When i PING to a website
(say "ping www.google.com") it works, but not when i open the website
through Internet Explorer or Netscape.

I saw a simillar post in this group
(http://groups.google.com/group/micr...ff36bbc16a0/2b488105dbfd782d#2b488105dbfd782d)

and tried all to see if this can be fixed, but in vain.
[I.e. Tried all these

AdAware <http://www.lavasoftusa.com/>
CWShredder <http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4086.html>
HijackThis <http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=3155>
LSP-Fix and WinsockXPFix <http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm>
Spybot S&D <http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=download>
Stinger <http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp?id=stinger>
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------]

Here is my observation which i feel is an important clue. I have a
shared internet connection via "local area network". When i disable and
re-enable the "local area connection" i can open websites in the
browser. After sometime (less than a minute) the websites become
inaccessible.

Thanks for your time and advices in advance.

Parsh

Parsh,

When you ping, are you using a name or address? When you access in your
browser? Make sure first that you don't have a DNS or MTU problem.

Then use other tools in investigating a possible LSP / Winsock problem. LSPFix
and WinsocXPFix are just 2 of a few. Be persistent here.
