Ping request could not find... (DI624 router; 302G modem)

Hi networkers

I am running a Dlink DI624 router and a Dlink 302G modem. Everything
was going great, then out of the blue my network cannot access the
web. The laptop (Toshiba, Win 98) and the desktop (xp) can still
communicate and file share, but when I try to access internet,
everything times out.

When I ping any site from dos prompt in XP it chugs away and then I
get "Ping request could not find host blah.com"

ipconfig is the following:

Windows IP Configuration

I can Ping the router (192.168.0.1) and the laptop (192.168.0.102).
And I can ping XP (192.168.0.100) from the laptop.

I have checked that the dsl phone line is ok, and it was working until
very recently. I have tried another phone line and another phone
socket.

I have tried a different network cables b/t the modem and the router.

I have checked that no software fire walls are running.

I have checked that the isp (Ozemail) is not down.

I have reset both the router and the modem. Frequently, and with zest.

Hope someone can help out here, Regards
Simon

Hi Vic
Thanks for the suggestion. I gave that a go with no luck.

I think it might be something to do with the modem. I can't log on to
10.1.1.2 as instructed by the documentation.

I am taking my quest elsewhere, because I just found this forum:

Cheers, Simon

Hi

The router will have an IP address allocated via DHCP, what i have found is
that you need to shut off the router for approx 5 minutes and then restart,
it then re-negociates with the ISP and is given an new IP.

Try this it worked for me

For what it's worth, I eventually logged into the modem on 10.1.1.1
(Turns out 10.1.1.2 was for USB set-up whereas I'm using ethernet).
But I only found this out by chance - I waited over a minute and
eventually the page loaded. I guess a time-out isn't a time-out while
there is still time running out.
