what's the expected timeline on this???
Text editors is going to take quite some time. I'll try to find a
replacement before I expire <G>. I'm looking at it long term. I'll add
more or try updated versions whenever I have the time to do it.
There really isn't a timeline. If you are interested just pick a
category and have at it. A smaller category, such as browsers or CD
burning programs can be done fairly quickly.
I'm thinking more of hitting of feature comparisons and the number of
registry entries than with a review, or opinion. And I might take each
editor to the limit on file sizes with several static text files of
varying sizes.
I'm up for it, but I'm also up for a rebuild (I swear this time I'll make
an image!!) and the time available for testing/evaluation/comparison is
pretty limited....
A fresh install is a pretty good place to start. I recently overhauled
and everything seems to be in tip top condition. I was concerned that
some anomaly on my system might affect the testing. I have a backup
made with xxcopy that I can use in case I get some programs that are
poorly written.
RegSeeker can clean out the trash in your registry after your
reinstall. Or, I had a bunch that needed cleaning after mine anyway.
