Windows XP ping question and ip address

When I execute the command ping www.hingedmind.com I get a local ip address. i.e. 10.0.0.10 and when I ping hingedmind.com I get 75.125.60.9, which is the correct address.

The problem:
I am unable to access this website through any browser. Another system on the same network has no problems. The other system on the network when they ping sees the correct ip address for both ways.

This makes me feel the problem is my system (XP Prof). What is it that is making my system default to a local ip address when I ping a domain name?

Hope this makes sense and thanks.

Thanks for the response and yes....

The most obvious can be the most elusive....

I had a long ago entry in my host file. From when I was hosting the server on this network..

Thanks

what happens if you ping the ip address directly through the machine you are having the problem with?

Thanks again for the response...

I have resolved the issue... It was an entry in my hosts file left over from a while back...

Thanks
