Hi Ed,
I have recently upgraded my earlier version of VueScan(7.6.84) to
version 8.12.9. I was surprised by the amount of work that you have put
into the software since version 7.6.84. The interface looks and feels
so much better now and the facilities to adjust absolutely everything
that needs adjusting, when demanding the best output, are most welcome.
There are some small issues with the appearance of the display font on
startup but I am sure that these will be fixed in future releases.

I use Silverfast AI for my scanning needs (mostly medium format and 4x5
inch negatives and slides) but I must hand it to you for the perfomance
when scanning 35mm slides. I use an Epson 4780 under OS X 10.3.7 and
the results from the Epson for 35mm are not good enough, when using
Silverfast AI, for professional work. Using VueScan and the Epson 4780
is one way to get pro quality scans from my 35mm slides and avoids the
need to use a dedicated slide scanner. I am impressed and want to thank
you for a great piece of software.

Kind regards
Jeff

Of course, I meant version 8.1.29 and not the version that the typo created. ;)

Thanks for the information Wilfred. The last time I looked both he and
Wayne Fulton used to frequent this group as well as other helpful and
knowledgeable folk.

Yes, but he leaved the newsgroup the past Fall.
He was overly irritated by some folks here, that kept bashing him and
Vuescan.
While their behaviour has been really excessive IMHO, Ed Hamrick did
not fared *that* better, still IMHO (after all, there was some true
under the bashing)... but of course anyone has the freedom of his
choices.

Fernando
