ping attack help

recently i have been getting these ping attacks like
every second while i surf.i'm using win xp home edition
n using dsl modem and a pc-cillin anti virus and firewall
so any suggestions on how to solve this problem and in
detail please cos i'm not very good at this.thanks in
advance and i've already download the patch for 'denial
of service 'patch.

I've got the exact same problem right now. This is my post "Hundreds of Echo
Requests", in this newsgroup.............

Over the past few days I seem to be getting an inordinate number of Echo
requests (ie every few seconds), all of which seem to originate from various
(constantly changing) IP addresses belonging to my ISP. ( ICMP Packets from
source port 8 to port 0 on my computer). Is that a sign that I've blocked
the wrong ports or an indication of an an attempted attack / probe???
