Pinball flashes

No new driver updates , running w-xp.Pinball just flashes on-off wont
start.Any more sugestions.

Hi dantheman,

Lets run a diagnostic of your system to see if we can pinpoint the problem.

In order to Create a dxdiag.txt file: Click Start / Run / type: DXDIAG
Click the "Test" buttons in the Display, Sound, Music & Network Tabs;
Afterwards click the "Save All Information..." button in the bottom row.

Open the file and copy/paste everything up to this section in your reply:

I really don't think my drivers are the issue. Every program on my computer
(and I've got a lot of em) works just fine, but Pinball never worked. I think
it's a Dell issue, or related to the NVIDIA. I'm not sure. Several other
people seem to have the same problem but there's no answers.

FIXED IT!!! Found a site on the internet to download the game. Realized that
the folder C:/Program Files/Windows NT/Pinball was missing a majority of the
files. Don't ask me, that's how it came. Anyway, I put the new files in that
folder and it works. Glad I didn't spend all day screwing with my drivers.

as the original poster, he had already replace the files
and reinstalled Pinball from scratch. Sorry about that!

It was the same problem. Maybe he'll read this and realize that there's only
2 files in the Pinball folder also. Thanks for the effort though!

Hi Irishboy,

To reinstall Pinball you just need your Windows CD and to follow these steps:

1. Choose Start / Run / Copy+Paste the next line into the RUN box and press [ENTER]:
notepad %SystemRoot%\Inf\Sysoc.inf

2. Scroll down to the line that reads: Pinball=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,pinball.inf,HIDE,7
and delete the word HIDE from the line so it now reads: Pinball=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,pinball.inf,,7

3. Click File / Exit and choose YES to save the changes you made to the file.

4. Click Start / Settings / Control Panel / Add-Remove Programs and follow the
instructions posted in the next paragraph to reinstall Pinball now that it's on the list.

To add/remove Windows XP Games: Click START / Control Panel /
Add or Remove Programs / Add Remove Windows Components /
Accessories and Utilities / [Details...] / Games / [Details...] / then check
(or uncheck and then recheck the game) / Click [OK] 3 times to finish.

Hi, Jimmy,

Thanks for responding. Unfortunately, I don't have the Windows XP
disc...this is an OEM copy...all I have is the recovery disc...no option to
cherry pick from the XP software. Any other suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.

If you have a i386 directory on your C: drive, you can point the
installer towards that directory using the "browse" button.

Hi, Jimmy,

Thanks again for the support. Although I don't have a copy of the XP disc
(just the recovery disc which doesn't allow me to reload XP separately), I
did try what you suggested without the disc...I removed the "hide"
instruction and reinstalled (unchecked and rechecked Pinball)...same result,
just a flash.

I'm stumped...not a difficult task!

Just to let everyone know, I tried Thomas Kuck's suggestion of uninstalling
3D Pinball, rebooting and reinstalling it...fixed the problem and everything
is working great! Sometimes the answers are the easiest...
