Pie Charts and percentages

Jessetr

Hi.

I have a pie chart, and I can't seem to find the settings to get the labels
for the slices OUTSIDE the pie but the percentages INSIDE the pie. It seems
like it should be something real simple, but I've messed with it for a while.

Second question, is if I can't post a link, can anyone help me with another
question that I have about charts but can't describe without a picture? I'd
be grateful if someone would be willing to have a quick email exchange with
me.

Thank you!

Jesse

2007 Version

Click in the Pie Chart.

This will launch the Chart Tools tab in the Title Bar (right hand side).

Go to Layout contextual tab (just below and to the right of Chart Tools).

Labels group.

Data Labels

The switch that you want is in here.

If my comments have helped please hit Yes.

Thanks.

Hi, Jesse,

I don't think there's a way to add the data labels in two places like that.
I suspect you'll have to use a manual textbox for one or the other (text
label and/or percentage).

You might be able to add a fake set of data to force one set of labels, but
I'm not sure the effort involved would be worth the result. Maybe one of the
Excel MVPs will pop in with ideas -- they're expert at that kind of thing.

Hi,

You can do it by adding an additional series with the same data values.
Select the pie and format the series to be on the secondary axis. You
can now apply data labels to both series and format each set as required
in terms of alignment and information displayed.

Cheers
Andy
