I have a Sony Mavika fd-75 digital floppy disc camera...I
recently upgraded to windows xp but dont think I have an
xp problem. The problem is: I take pictures with my
camera and put the floppy into my a:/ drive to
view/send/print etc. the pictures. The pictures are
distorted when viewed, they are black on bottom half,
some are red at top-blue in middle-yellow at the bottom.
Some have the top shifted left-middle shifted right and
bottom shifted left again. I called Sony techs and they
said view the floppy through the cameras review
screen...I did and the pictures are fine. So, this puts
the blame somewhere on my computer...could it be a "going
bad" a:/ drive? I tried a few floppies that I had 35mm
film developed and put on a floppy by Kodak (I know these
pics were good) but these are now distorted as
well...HELP!

My first response would be to tell you to buy a floppy
drive cleaner disk, about $2.00, that might solve most of
your problems. I think you drive in the camera got
dirty. Then second, check the floppy drive on your PC,
it might also need cleaning. Try it first.

Sounds like you may have a problem with your
video driver. After the upgrade to WinXP, did
you go to the website of the manufacturer of
your video card and download and install a
current Win XP video driver?

It might be worth a try to reduce your Video
Hardware Acceleration:

Reduce Video Hardware Acceleration in Windows XP

Microsoft Windows XP
1.. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2.. Double-click Display.
3.. Click the Settings tab, and then click Advanced.
4.. Click the Troubleshooting tab, and then move the Hardware
Acceleration slider until it is one notch to the right of None (the
Basic acceleration setting).
5.. Click OK, and then click Close.
6.. If you are prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.
