how to put clip art or pictures in e mail without sending it as an attachment
using windows mail..i have windows vista i have tried copy paste and i can't
get it to work

You can't paste an image into Windows Mail.
Use Insert Picture, or File Attachment

While in "Create mail", make sure you are in "Rich text" mode by using
menu item "Format - Rich text"

Now go to menu item "Insert - Picture" and select the picture you wish
to insert.
