Pictures wont save as anything but a bitmap

I am having trouble saving picture files from the
internet. For some reason, they will only save a bitmap
file no matter what file type they are when I download
them. There are pictures that I download that I know are
jpegs when I download them but internet explorer will only
save them as a bitmap. This problem just recently
started. I am running windows 2000 professional and as
far as I can tell, I have installed all of the updates and
service packs. I also have the internet explorer 6 update
installed. I have not changed any settings that would
make this problem appear.

Hold the shift key down and then right click on the image and choose "save
as".

Try clearing out your temporary internet files.

Wow! Thanks, that did the trick. I'm glad it was
