Pictures on incoming mail don't show

When I open my email often the pictures sent do not show up. I just get an X
in the spot where the picture should be.

are you connected to the internet when you open these emails?
Some images in emails are online and require an Internet connection to be
first viewed. Outlook can also block web-based graphics in email but you
should see a notice if that is the case.

I have high speed access so I am always conneted to the internet. I just
started using Outlook and don't really know all the ins and outs yet. I
always got the pictures with my old access and was wondering if this was a
setting I need to change or if I have set something up incorrectly. Thanks
for your response.

which version of Outlook are you using and do you see any message bar across
the top of the Reading Pane or a message concerning images in the message
itself?
Is Internet Explore set to online when you try and view the images in the
message?

I have the same problem, but only on "most" of my emails. Some come thru
OK,although not many. I have searched every setting I can find. I even
changed my Internet Explorer security to Low (temporarily) to see if that
helped, it didn't. I use Outlook XP (2003) and a Yahoo mail account. Could
it be Yahoo that is blocking the pictures?

i just switched from Outlook Express to Outlook 2000. I use XP HOME and
comcast email. I have tried almost everything including searching the
microsoft web site. I still don't get any pictures. I may go back to express
if there is no solution. However, I like the intergration that OUTLOOK
offers.

One thing I tried was lowering the security and fowarding an old email to
myself and that worked. Is this the only way?

When I send an email with a picture it only has a red x on it when it is
received. I have Windows XP with service pack 2. I use outlook express. It
was working fine until today.

I'm having the same problem. Using Outlook 2003. There is no message bar
across the top of the reading pane or a message in the image itself.
Internet explorer is set to online.
This problem appeared randomly as it was not initially an issue when I
installed the software.

In the toolbar at the top of the page, click on Tools, Options, then the
Security tab. Click on the Change Automatic Download settings in the Download
Pictures section. Then uncheck the first checkbox on the page. That should
solve the problem.

I have a fix for Outlook 2007.

On the Tools menu, click Trust Center, and then click Automatic Download.
Clear the Don't download pictures automatically in HTML e-mail messages or
RSS items check box.

I have the same problem, without the red X. Any pictures come out as blank
squares. I have to open it in IE in order to see what I use to see fine in my
email. What did Microsoft change? It was working fine before.

Ever since getting my new laptop with Vista and Outlook 2007,
pictures/graphics won't show up in my incoming messages. Referring to the
post below, I am looking at it right now, and that box is NOT checked. I am
also NOT getting a red "X." I am getting a box shaped/sized like the graphic
or photo... but it's blank inside the box. Also, I have always sent email
with my photos embedded inside, by using the "Insert Photo" command. When I
do that, the pictures also do not show. There is an empty box.

the only way I can see the photo is to PRINT PREVIEW. There they are,
intact.

What is wrong???
