Hope I am in the correct group. Wins XP- Outlook Express - used with SBC
Yahoo DSL. Attchs containing photos won't open. Message box says:
C:\Documents and Settings\larry and mildred\ local settings\temporary
internet files\content.IE5\ UVEXMHUD (differenet for each file ) followed
by\.gif or .jpg. and "This action only valid for products that are currently
installed. Text and video Attchs will open in Outlook Express, not photos
(jpg/gif). Emails with photo attachments do open when sent to my
hotmail/msn.com address. What is missing in the files or settings that
prevent photos from being opened in Outlook Express?

Hi,

Click Start, Run and type eventvwr.msc
Select Application entry in the left pane
In the right-pane, look for the Error entry denoted by a Red X

{You need to look the Windows Installer related entries}

Sort by date and track-down the entry based on what time the error exactly
occurred. Locate and double-click the entry and you'll see more information
in the resulting dialog. Click the copy button at the top and copy the whole
event and paste it to a Notepad document and save it. Post the information
here.

Thank you much for reply. I have solved the problem. Spent most of a Sunday
searching, but eliminated problem by fixing the JPG file type association in
File Types under Folder Options. Many thanks again for your effort.

Well done!
Thanks for posting back.
