Pictures are displayed as X's and wont open as pictures

This started as a result of upgrading to the latest
version of Internet Explorer and adding all the patches

I have this same prob. I did what the 283807 says to do
but nothing. How do I get the GIF format to work?

I have the same problem, and I know a temporary fix for
it. Click on view,then encoding, and it will show that
Western European(ISO) is selected. Click on Western
European(Windows), and then it will reload with all of the
pics. Problem is that you have to do that every time you
click on a new page. I am still looking for a permanent
fix. If you find one, please let me know. Thanks.
