The user image in my laptop's Start menu disappeared, and
I can't seem to find a way to bring it back. Even when I
change it using the "User Accounts" control panel, I
still don't get a picture. I tried looking around and
still cannot find a way to bring it back.

if you are using the classic mode, the picture on the start menu does not
appear. the picture works only (i think) if you are using the winxp theme.

i hope this helps a bit.

The Start Menu picture appears if:

1. Welcome Screen is enabled
2. You use the New Start Menu
3. You use Windows XP theme.
