picture format

i have xp home sp2. i need to convert pictures from jpg etc to gif etc. can i
do it on xp? do i need other software? i did download irfanveiw but cannot
figure out how to use it for this project. any suggestions or advice would be
appreciated.
 
Use one of your Graphics programs like IrfanView and open the JPG, then click
File>Save As in the top Toolbar, and select JPG.

Yes, and yes.

If you're older than 4, please use standard capitalization. It is

File >> Save As. In the Save dialog, select the desired image type.
Check "Show Options Dialog" to fine-tune it.
 
well. if you use linux, you just right click the image file
actions>convert to

you can do that with multiple files also

but you use windows xp so no, no way to do this within windows you must
use third party program
there is a trick i used to do, is to open the file with paint and "save
as" the file to the other format
