Just curious ... why do you slice .. I never have found a need to do that.

(email me)--- I don't do it for load time, or image security, although these are good reasons to do so.

Hello,

Can you please advise the benefit of slicing images and maybe an example
would help. I spend a lot of time trying to get images and graphics where I
want them using Frontpage and I'm wondering if this would help me.

I tried emailing you, btw, and it didn't work.

Thanks,

Beverly

Slicing an image in and of itself has no real benefit, other than this
potential one -

Since the "image" is now a collage of many (or several) smaller graphic
slices, the browser is able to fetch them concurrently rather than just
asking for the server to upload a single larger graphic. This concurrent
fetching from the server *COULD* improve the time required for the browser
to download the entire image matrix, so to speak. However, if there is net
congestion, you also increase the likelihood that one or more packets of all
these smaller images will be lost.

On balance, I think it's a push.

I certainly don't think you need the full version of Photoshop. Elements 3
will do the trick.
