I believe that my computer has been compromised by a virus or a hacker.
When I run Norton AV 2004 disk doctor, I get the following pop up
message. "Norton Disk doctor cannot obtain the physical disk
characteristics of the hard disk and is unable to test the partition
information of the drive"
I have run the utility several times, but it does not show that I have
any virus nor any problems other that what I have mentioned. My system
is up to date with the original hardware.
However, I am able to access and execute the files on any of the 2
partitions C and D.
Further damage done, was the erase of e-mail, addresses, desktop and
start menu
I did run a XP diagnosic which showed the HD free of errors.
With an oline virusscan (norton), no virus was found.
How do I proceed?
I want to regain control over my HD.
