Photos in .pps

Russ

Please note that I have not used power point in any way other than to display
..pps files, so I have no idea how it works. With power point, I am a complete
novice.

I frequently receive .pps files from friends. Many have wonderful photos
that I would like to have copies of for various reasons such as use for
computer wallpaper.

How can I get a copy of a photograph separated from the .pps file?

Hi Russ

There are a few ways to do this - probably the simplest is to 'Save as' ->
jpg. This will save every slide as a picture. Exactly where to find this
option depends on your version of PowerPoint.

If you want just the picture and not any text on top of it, then either open
the presentation -> go to the picture -> right click -> save as picture, OR
save as -> HTML which will create a folder of 'assets' including all the
picture from the presentation.

Hello Lucy,

I am using the 2003 version. When I opened the .pps file in PowerPoint, I
went to the Edit Menu, found and clicked on "Save As" , but I wasn't given
the option to save as a .jpg. The most common option was .ppt and there were
a couple of other options to save as a webpage, which are not digital
picture extensions.

I assume I am doing something improperly. Can you help?

Hi Russ

The save as picture options are way down the list so can easy to miss:
File -> Save As -> click on 'Save as Type' arrow -> scroll down -> .jpg or
..png (or other formats, but those are my preferred two).

Saving as HTML will produce a folder that will contain the pictures and lots
of other stuff, rather than the above method which will produce a folder
which contains pictures of all the slides. Does that make more sense?

Hi Russ

Thanks for letting us know. As for marking the thread as solved, it depends
how you are viewing the newsgroup - I use a news reader so can't mark things
in that way but I understand you can if you come through the MS community
pages. But there are many other 'faces' too (e.g. google groups).
