photogallery jpg's in 2 directories?

When I use the photogallery to create pages with jpg photo's, the actual
files seem to be put into 2 directories, therefore taking up double space.
One copy of the file is put in the main directory of the web page and then
there is a PhotoGallery subdirectory with another subdirectory below that for
each photogallery web page (named photo000xxxxx where xxxxx is a unique
number for each photogallery web page).

Seems to me the actual jpg should only go into one place. How can I avoid
this?

you can't. and if you rename or move those files the gallery won't work.

When I create a photogallery, the large pictures are imported into the
images folder, and the PhotoGallery creates thumbnails in the
photogallery/photoxxxxxxx folder. There is only one set of large
images, which are where I placed them.
There is a unique set of thumbnails created for each gallery, some of
which may be duplicated if the same large image is used in more than
gallery.

I move mine all the time.
The photogallery gets a number put on it as you described. Once it has been
created, I always move that photo000xxxx folder into the folder that my
original pictures are stored. The copies that are in photo000xxxx are only
thumbnails. They are tiny compared to the original photo. They take very
little space but are associated at least 3-other files in that folder
(real.htm, real_p.htm, & real_x.htm). Then you should see other files such
as next.gif, prev.gif, prefdis.gif. These may not be exactly what your are
but are required to make your photo gallery work.

Once I move photo000xxx folder as a subfolder (where my actual real size
photos are), I delete the folder named "photogallery". Since it is empty,
you don't need it. However, it will be recreated for the next Photo Gallery
you put together. Then you repeat the process.

I don't know why the gallery is created at that place but it always seems to
happen at the root directory. Once you move it, your folders will all be
more organized.

That is what I do.
