FrontPage2003 photogallery scanned yearbook photos saved jpg?

I scanned yearbook b/w "photos" for each person. Tried to create
photogallery using these files saved as .jpg. Tried renaming to .gif.

Page looks great in Local site. Problem: no photos appear when transferred
to remote & published. Just shows the gallery path, including its number.

Gallery is for students who have passed away.

Did you create a web site first?
File | New Site
Then create a page to put your gallery on.

Import or Drag&Drop the image files into FP website (usually into the IMages
folder) first before creating the gallery.

You cannot rename a .jpg to .gif, you have to open them in an image
editor, then save as .gif.
If the .jpg is a photo' then don't, since the colours will be reduced to
256 shades, and make the picture blocky.
