No too long after version 5.5, now version 5.6 of PhotoFiltre has been
released.
You'll need to download the program file and the language files (The old
language files are *not* compatible).

Downloads are aviable at
http://photofiltre.free.fr/utils/pf-setup-en.exe (English)
http://photofiltre.free.fr/utils/pf-setup.exe (Français)
http://photofiltre.free.fr/utils/pf-setup-cz.exe (Czesky)

For the other languages, you should download the Fench version and a
seperate language file and place it in the same directory as PhotoFiltre.exe

http://photofiltre.free.fr/utils/TranslationPT.zip (Portuguese)
http://photofiltre.free.fr/utils/TranslationDE.zip (Deutch)
http://photofiltre.free.fr/utils/TranslationNL.zip (Nederlands - it says
Deutch in error)
http://photofiltre.free.fr/utils/TranslationIT.zip (Italiano)

If you already have a version of photofiltre installed, and have problems
with the installation, I reccommend to delete the photofiltre.exe files and
the language (*.plg) files. Then try to reinstall the application and
additional language files again. This way any Selections, masks and patterns
are preserved.

Also, a new version of the screencapture plug-in was released at 25 march
2004.
Aviable at http://antonio.dacruz.free.fr/english/plugins/pfl/Capture.zip

For those who helpded creating the language files: they only needed to be
recompiled, so you don't have to do additional work.

Oops: forgot to tell you.

Photofiltre has a new plug-in toolbar, but for the icons to appear on the
toolbar, you will have to redownload (and install) the plug-ins

Will you be comparing it (objectively) with babya Photo Workshop by any
chance?

This program posts news to billions of machines throughout the galaxy.
Your message will cost the net enough to bankrupt your entire planet.
As a result your species will be sold into slavery. Be sure you know
what you are doing.

Are you absolutely sure you want to do this?

[Yes] No

Thanks, but I for one will wait a couple of versions before going to
all that trouble. Version 5.5 works just fine. Glad to see that
Antonio is still improving the program though.

My download of Photofiltre will not install. I get the message that the
installer is incorrect or corrupted.

Anyone else have this problem? Anyone have a solution?

I downloaded it from two different sites and both downloads had the same
problem.

All help much appreciated.

The author suggests that you remove the PhotoFiltre.exe file and the
language file ( .plg ) from the PhotoFiltre directory if you are
having problems installing. All of your plugins and settings will
still be saved.

Strange, I succefully downloaded en installed it with a 56k6 modem for
Windows 98 (this morning) and with adsl for windows 2000 (yesterday), XP
professional (Just did it).

Might be a slow connection? Or you might try to flush your browsers cache
before downloading. Sometimes a ritual dance and a reboot will do the trick
(remember, computer are so smart now-a-days, they will know if you did the
ritual dance)

Another thing would be to check for nasties (virus / Addware / trojans) with
the usual tools.
