Does anyone know of s/w that will convert a colour or b+w pic to a line
drawing or similar graphic effect.

I stumbled upon a program for turning photographs into line drawings a few
days ago. I've not tried it yet, but it seems to be just what you are
looking for:

Hello Frank,
thank you for the link. I d/l the s/w and it does the job, but the lines it
produces are too thick making graphics look more like outlines you seen with
cartoons. I used the thinnest of lines but it did not produce the drawing
effect I am after.
Never mind I will keep looking.
