How is it possible to add and use keywords in WMP 11.
You can view photos by keyword, but there is no options for adding or
creating keywords.
Even the built in help does not even mention keywords

Try the following if the files are in the

I understand what you are saying, but highlighting multipled items, and going
to Properties /Advanced, all the boxes are greyed out.

But that is not what I was hoping for.
I wanted to create Keyword groups from within media player, and then drap
and drop the files that I want with that keyword associated with into that
group.

With over 10,000 photos to keyword, with multiple tags, IE; sunset, place
name, doing it in explorer to then view in WMP sort of defeats the object of
making them viewable in media player for me

Am I correct in thinking that perhaps media player is just capable of
viewing them, but cant actually add and edit the tags. I was hoping for the
same functionality for photos as you get for music files

You are apparently on the wrong screen.
Have a look at the following image:

Click on Title, Subject, Keywords, Comments
or Author and begin typing.

AFAIK...the option you are asking for is
not available in Windows Media Player...
that's why I offered a different solution.

Yes, I was, my fault, forgot to click on the Advanced button.

Shame it is not available in WMP, if you can edit the tags for audio, not
being able to do the same for photos is a bit of a slip. I had start to look
for software that has good keyword handling and sorting capabilities, but so
far only come up with KPhotoALbum for Linux. This would mean downloading all
the source, and compiling for Windows. A prospect I am not looking forward
to. Maybe now the time has come to jump ship and go over to Linux

Thanks for the help

OK, so now I have worked out how to add some keywords, how do you get WMP to
update and recognise them?
I added keywords to some photos, tried to re scan the monitored folders, but
when yo selecte Pictures/Keywords, they all still show as unknown. No
keyword groups have appeared
