Photo Gallery - thumbnail & preview in same pane (like Filmstrip)

I am new to Vista (from XP) and am trying to use Windows Photo Gallery to
organize and manage photos, since Vista no longer has Filmstrip view in
Explorer. I'm trying to get the layout/view like in Filmstrip - to see
thumbnails amd preview on the same window. I can't.
I read that you can do this in Personal Computer World magazine March 26,
2007 “Hands On: Windows Photo Gallery" , and it shows a screen shot of what I
want. The article says to "select Preview Pane from the Layout sub-menu of
the Organize menu". I can't find Layout or Organize menu in Photo Gallery
(Vista Home Premium.)
Can anyone help me to get Photo Gallery laid out properly? Or have an
alternative solution to viewing thumbnails and preview on same screen?

I use Windows Explorer(shortcut on desktop) not My docs

Start > All Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer > Organise(upper
left-hand top of Windows Explorer) > a drop down menu>Layout > Menubar,
Preview Pane, etc.

Tick the MenuBar as well from Layout so that you get the old, "file, edit,
view, etc"
