Photo as desktop display won't stretch or tile

I try to assign a photo as the desktop background (from Display Properties
Menu, Desktop Tab). If I select "Tile" or "Center" a very enlarged portion
of the photo is displayed, full-screen size. (But the "Stretch" option
displays it okay.) This happens only with .jpg files I took with a Sony
camera. Other pictures, such as those downloaded from the net, work fine at
all settings. I tried adjusting the screen resolution but that didn't fix it.
I use Windows XP SP2.
Thanks,
Ed

That is because the photo's resolution is higher than your monitor's current
resolution and the stretch option's functionality is not just to enlarge the
picture, it can make it short too according to your display. If you want to
apply the photos taken from the camera to your pc than set the camera's
picture resolution.
