Phone number parsing

Hi there

I want to stop Outlook 2002 from using its intellisense formatting to
automatically parse phone numbers in my Contacts, as it keeps inserting
parentheses around the area code which I don't want. Haven't found anything
in the knowledge base about this issue, just an article about how to turn on
the parsing in custom-made forms.

In previous versions of Outlook, after you typed in a number that Outlook
wanted to autoformat, a "Check Phone Number" popup box would appear with the
numbers in what it thought were the right boxes (country/area code/phone
number) and a tick box to deselect telling the program you didn't want this
done in future.

Now - if you type in +1 123 4567890, you can't stop it from inserting the
parentheses around the 123 (once it sees the +[country code], it seems to do
it). If you double-click the phone number to get the "Check Phone Number"
box there's no tick box to deselect any more, and regardless of if you hit
OK or CANCEL after that, the parentheses appear!

If you don't put the "+" in, it won't format the numbers, but I want to be
able to sync outlook with PDAs and mobile phones without have the
parentheses!

Can anyone help?

Mick
