Phone Number Formatting in Outlook 2003

I know this problem has been posted before, but I cannot get the suggested
fixes to work. I currently see a format of xxxxxxxxxx and I want (xxx)
xxx-xxxx.

I go to New Call under Actions, put my local area code number in but it
doesn't seem to fix the problem.
