Phone and Modem Options:Setting up dialing locations

Sometimes I have to use the Fax option as I have to send copies of
documentation to people within my local calling area (right now there are 3
area codes within my local calling area with more to be added in the near
future). One of the problems I've encountered on all Windows OS's (including
Vista), is when I use the imbedded software provided, and I have to dial a
10-digit number, 9 times out of 10, the system will dial a "1" as a prefix
even if the number is within the local area (meaning all you need to dial is
10 digits). I'm suggesting that an option be added to the dialing locations
to exclude the "1". In other words a "No Prefix" option for included area
codes. I've retired from Nortel-Networks after 24 years, and on all our
systems, we included options to where the customer could setup the dialing
prefixes. This would eliminate the "headache" of trying to figure out how to
make the system NOT dial a "1" on a 10-digit local area number.

Thanks

Can you just NOT use the dialing properties and program in exact phone
numbers? If a particular number needs a 1 just enter that as part of the
phone number.
