Phantom Domain

While logged on to a w2k server, as admin (full boat access), I have 2
domains listed under Microsoft Windows Network, my domain and Mshome. There
is one pc under the Mshome, Its. When I select that pc, I get a login and
noen of my logins work. When I try to find out the properties, it tells me I
do not have admin rights. What is this #@!! thing?

MSHome is not a domain - it's the name of a workgroup. Sounds like someone
plugged in a WinXP computer that was not part of your domain. MSHOME is the
default workgroup name in XP, I believe.

If that computer is still connected, find it and pull the plug ASAP. You
don't want people connecting home PCs to your company network, really, you
don't. Really.

After the computer has been disconnected for a while, it will 'time out' and
stop showing up in your network places - as will the workgroup name.

Yep, that's what it was. Someone plugged in a laptop a place they were not
supposed to. Thanks for the help and I will make sure the beat down happens.

Best of luck. I recommend the soles of the feet; fewer visible scars that
way.
