How can I verify that my WinXP firewall is actually doing
something? I was using McAfee's firewall but that thing
is annoying as hell so I disabled it and attempted to
turn on the built-in firewall. Turns out my WinXP
firewall was activated the whole time. So, I went to
view the pfirewall.log and it isn't even there. What
should I do? Thanks, all!

Enable logging for the firewall. Open Network Connections. Right click the
connection on which ICF is enabled. Click the Settings button towards the
bottom of the Advanced page. Select desired options on the Security Logging
tab.
