Personal Settings Takes Long to Load

Does anyone know why it takes a long time -- sometimes up to several minutes
-- for certain workstations to "apply personal settings" during startup in
Win XP Professional? I've had this problem occur on more than one computer
and can't figure out what is causing it. Is there anything that can be done
to fix/repair the user's settings so it doesn't take so long?

You would try regmon from system internals; it has a registry optimizing
program that can speed up the processes like that.
