I have a simple home network with three computers. They are all connected to
a Linksys BEFSR41 4 port router which is connected to a Westell Wirespeed DSL
modem. My ISP is SBC-Yahoo and my OS is WinXP Home SP2.

Because of certain programs and games I run, I need my personal IP address
to be constant but it keeps changing every day or so. Is it possible to set
my personal IP address to be a set number in WinXP Home? If so, how do I do
it and will it still allow me to forward ports, etc. Thank you. Mike950

Go to the Properties for your Network Connection and on the General tab go
to TCP/IP Properties and you can change the IP to a fixed IP there. You
should change it to an IP address outside the range the router allocates,
have a look at your router config pages (or the manual) for that
information. You can still forward ports to a fixed IP address.

But that's not going to change how the Westell DSL modem keeps changing it's
IP address - for this, the OP will need to contact the ISP and see if they
can "purchase" a "static" IP - in most cases the ISP will comply, but you'll
be charged a substantially higher rate for this privilege.
