There are various websites that require personal information such as
e-mail address, postal address, etc. How can I be sure that my
information will not be passed around? [I am reluctant to
enroll/register for many [if not most] sites because of this doubt.]

If there is no easy answer, how do you deal with this problem?

Thank you,

Read the privacy policy of the web site. If they don't have one, don't give
them any info.

You're wise to be concerned about these. Set up a junk Email account at
Hotmail or Yahoo to be used specifically for this purpose. I don't know
where you're seeing the frequent requests for a postal address, but if it's
not for a legitimate business purpose (in which case your should check the
sites privacy policy), simply use a fictitious postal address.
