Personal Folders

I have extra sets of personal folders in my folder list in Outlook 2002. At
least 1 set is good, but the others cannot be opened. Outlook will not let
me delete these folders. Is there a way to delete them, and/or remove them?
I cannot close them either.

If right-click>Close doesn't work, then try File>Data File Management or
Tools>Services, depending on your Outlook version which you decided not to
mention. If that doesn't work, you'll need to create a new mail profile.

Brian, if you really had read my post, you would have noticed that it clearly
says Outlook 2002. Also, I have tried ALL of the options you mentioned even
creating a new profile, yet the duplicate personal folders will still NOT go
away. There must be some file that continnues to re-instate them. You have
insulted the intelligense of everyone who reads this post when you accuse me
of not mentioning the version.
Thanks for "nothing."

I don't see how there can be anything that reinstalls them. Let's make sure
you created a new profile. With Outlook stopped, click Start>Control Panel.
Locate the Mail applet and start it. Then click Show Profiles>Add and
follow the prompts. Use the Data Files button to point that new profile at
your existing PST. Use the E-mail Accounts button to recreate your
accounts. Now start Outlook again.

My mistake.

Your apologies are accepted. Your new solution solved one problem, but
created others:
1. Now there is no context menu when I right-click on a message.
2. Now there is a new set of folders called Outlook Connector Store Service
which is unopenable--unable to find MSNCON.dll.
3. All of my toolbars except 1 are missing: lookout, paypal, etc.
4. how about a tweak which will permanently disable the preview pane--it,
too, keeps coming back after I remove it.

Thank you for your help.

I've never seen this problem, so I can't advise you. Sorry.

I take it you have a Hotmail account and were using the Outlook connector to
access it. Can't you reinstall that add-in?
3. All of my toolbars except 1 are missing: lookout, paypal, etc.

You should be able to add these to your new profile as well. If you still
have your old profile, you can configure Outlook to ask which profile to
use, (in the Mail applet) and go look where those add-ins reside. You
should then be able to the the add-in managers to make them availbale in the
new profile.

The /nopreview command line switch should do that.
