Persistent nVidia driver problem

XFXForce video card using nVidia 6800 XT; dual DVI output to a pair of Dell
2001fp 1600x1200 monitors. Vista RC1 build 5600 and RC2 build 5744. The
following problems have happened on a regular basis on both builds and with
all the drivers I have tried, which includes the drivers off the Vista DVD
and 96.85 driver and its predecessor from the nVidia web site. They don't
happen every time, but they happen ofter enough to be annoying:

1. When unlocking the screen after it has gone into screen save, after I
enter my password on the LH screen to unlock, the screen blanks and then the
desktop comes up only on the RH screen, with the LH screen remaining blank.
As the start menu and taskbar are on the LH screen and can't be seen, the
only way out of this problem is to shut the OS down by pressing the power
button and then booting up again. This problem also sometimes happens on the
initial login after power-on.

2. When unlocking the screen after it has gone into screen save, after I
enter my password on the LH screen to unlock, the desktop only comes up on
the LH screen, with the RH screen remaining blank. If I bring up desktop
properties, it shows me that there are two monitors with the desktop
extended onto the 2nd monitor. The fix for this problem is to uncheck the
"extend desktop" box and apply the change, then check it again and apply the
change, after which the desktop appears on the RH monitor.

The machine is dual boot with XP, which I still use regularly due to the
unreliable nature of Vista, and neither of these problems have ever happened
when running XP, so it's definitely a driver rather than a hardware problem.

This is a Vista bug, not the graphics driver. It occurs on both the nVidia and
ATI driver that ship with Vista. I have to turn my 2nd screen back on every
other time I bring the machine out of power saving.

I bugged it some time ago, lets just hope it gets fixed for the final version.
