Permanently turn off simple file sharing

B

Brad Reichert

I've got a WinXP workstation with the Novell Client installed. I turn off
simple file sharing but when I log off a new users logs on, it's turned back
on again. How do I get simple file sharing permanently turned off system
wide?

Thanks,

Brad

Brad,

I would like to ask you to try something for me.

Go to your registry under the following key:

1.Go to the registry and navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa

Then check what you have set for forceguest DWORD value.

- ForceGuest=1: Use this value to turn on Simple File Sharing

- ForceGuest=0: Use this value to disable Simple File Sharing

So, if it is set to 1, set it to 0 and then reboot and try again and let us
know the results.

Thank you,
