Permanent Drive Letter Assignment

The help files state - "Windows 2000 and Windows XP allow the static
assignment of drive letters on volumes, partitions, and CD-ROM drives."
However, it does not say how to do this. My cd-rom drive and external hard
drive letters change on updating. I would like to make them permanent, but
Help does not seem to tell me how.

Please help me on this.

Rt. Click on MyComputer>Select Manage>Disk Management. Rt click on your
Drives and select
Change Drive Letter and Paths.
