Drive Letter problem

My Epson printer incorporates a card reader, which as far as XP is concerned
counts as a removable disk, and has up to now been assigned the drive letter
K. My external drive then carries on with drive letter L. For some reason,
my card reader is currently being assigned L, which in turn bumps up the
drive letters on my external drive and causes all kinds of mayhem. I have
tried changing the drive letter via Disk Management, but that only lasts for
the current session, and then it is back to L again. Is there any way I can
permanently change it back to K?

With hard drives or cdroms, cdrw, etc To change the letter on more than
one,and the one you want is in use by another. The trick is to uninstall the
device in device mgr,or disable,if the hd has a page file, you might need to
select "no page file",restart computer, back in xp,change the free letter you
uninstalled or disabled, restart computer.Reinstall,or make available other
device(s),now they will stay as you wanted.....
