perlib perfdisk.dll error filling event logs

I am getting repeated perflib 1008 error in the App Event
log referring to perfdisk.dll.

"The Open Procedure for service "PerfDisk" in
DLL "C:|WINNT\system32\perfdisk.dll" failed. Performance
data for this service will not be available..."

Win2KSP4 is installed. I guess I could disable the
perfdisk but don't like this as a permanent fix Any ideas?
