Hi,
I have two disks
One is connected on primary IDE is speedier than the second disk on
secondary !

my PC, is Medion 1800+ AMD XP1800

I have 2 Chanals IDE and 2 disks both in UDMAMode 5

I used HD_Speed to test the speed of the two disks
In Burst mode , primary the disk = IBM 40Gb, ? Mb cache => got
60mb/s
,secondary the disk = Hitachi 120 Gb, 8 Mb cache => got 80mb/s

In read Acces ( non Burst ) the primaire = 25Mb/s with blocks 32Kb and
64Kb
the secondary 25Mb/s and then fel down to
several Kb/s then after 30s go to 12 Mb/s

Is there any body who could have an explanation of that strange thing ?
Why there is a drop in performance
is there sm tricks ? something to fix that performance.?
Thanks by advance

Not surprising, the one on the primary IDE is a dinosaur !

That drive is a dinosaur compared with the other one.

See above.
Why there is a drop in performance

Modern drives have the sectors per track varying in bands across the drive.
