Peper Trojan

Hi all.....while browsing through these newsgroups, I came to a thread which
had a link for Bazooka Scanner. I decided to give it a try and to my
surprise ( probably because my NAV definitions expired), it came up with 2
objects. They were Peper Trojan and MS Media Player GUID. Does anyone know
of any way to rid my computer of this less going into the Registry. I am
not very computer literate and I am a little nervous about messing with the
Registry. Any help would be appreciated. I read about the removal for the
MS Media and it had mentioned something about installing the MS Service Pack
2 but am I suppose to uninstall SP1 before I install SP2?? Thanx again for
all your help...Patty

P.S. (for SteveL): This is 3 threads now that i started...lol. You must
really be mad at me now!!

The Bazooka scanner, when finding a nasty, provides a link to removal
instructions.

They tell you how to remove it but it concerns going into the Registry and
playing with the Registry keys. I am not that computer savy so I was
wondering if there might be a utility out there that might remove it.

Go to majorgeeks web site

go to the left column spyware tools I think, go to the CW
Shredder download it and run it, see if it helps, if not
get adaware free version from lavasoft ot spybot from
major geeks

The registry keys you need to delete don't belong there. There is no way to
screw it up if you follow the instructions carefully. If, however, you are
feeling timid: Backup the registry before deleting the keys.

Patty, those instructions looked pretty straight forward. Take your
time and follow them exactly.

Thanx Richie but I'm having a problem accessing and downloading CWShredder.
I do have it installed on my computer from awhile back but when I go to
check for updates, it tells me the program is not responding and to try
later. I also have Adaware, Spybot S&D, and Spyblaster on my computer and I
ran the first 2. They came back clean. I tried going directly to Merijn
but I keep getting a message saying the webpage cannot be displayed. I
thought maybe i could try a link in one of these threads to get there but
whenever I click on a link in these threads, it takes forever to load and
then I still get a message saying the website cannot be displayed. Uggghhh,
I am at my wits end now. I did break down and renew my NAV (another thread
altogether) and am running and AV scan now on that computer as I speak.
I'll see what happens then. Thanx for your help though and i'm sure i'll be
back Patty
