I had the same thoughts. His room temperature must be lower than
average. Also, he must have a very good case.

Or speedfan is getting it wrong.
In my experience, Speedfan is reliable.

You need to get out more, it has a problem with some motherboards.

| Are you sure you are reading the correct temps? Those are low for even the
| ambient temps of the case and are right there with room temps. Even with
| water cooling Pentium Ds usually run in the low 30s C at idle. I would check
| and make sure those temperatures are correct ........

Current readings according to SpeedFan:
System - 28C
CPU - 22C
PSU - 46C
HD0 - 25C
HD1 - 29C

Asus Probe confirms the CPU and motherboard temps. Room temp is now 21.7C. If
the reported computer temps are wrong, then the sensors must be faulty.

But even when I occasionally open my main computer after it's been running for
hours, nothing inside except the PSU is ever more than slightly warm to the
touch.

I have another D945 in my second computer with higher temps. It shows idle at
about 32C and gets up to about 52C during movie processing. The case is
smaller, however, with less space for air circulation. And I have a Thermaltake
MiniTyphoon instead of the stock hs/f in that second system since that's the one
I use most for extended, high demand jobs. The case with the cool CPU is nearly
22" tall and has a lot of "breathing room" inside as well as having five case
fans.

When I mentioned I'm using the stock hs/f in my main system, I should have also
said the heatsink that came with this D945 is a little larger (taller) than the
one that came with my second D945. I'm sure they were made for Intel by
different manufacturers, so that may account for the size difference. They
basically look alike.

The D945 is rated at 95W, which may account for some of the temp differences
between it and some other Ds that are rated at 130W.

| What is the room temp though? Yours seems to be below
| average to get that idle temp, else it isn't accurate.

Now 21.7C.

That's hilarious, considering Gigabyte is Asus. -Dave

It's not as hilarious as you think. Gigabyte has _one more share_ than Asus.
That makes it the senior partner.
It would be truer to say that Asus is Gigabyte.

Sylvain.

Oh! I get it now! Why didn't you say "Can you supply a link?", or something
similar. "Link that please" didn't make sense to me at the time.
In answer to your request; regretfully, I didn't bookmark the site. Do as I
did, and "Google" Intel D930.

sigh,... If I ask to link it, its is because I already did so and found
nothing by a reputable source.
