Would a PC with Pentium 4HT 3.0 GHZ run Vista with no problems?
Memory, graphic ad other hardware are not an issue. Thanks.

Alan.

Maybe

Memory, graphic ad other hardware are not an issue.

Yes they are. That's why the processor only rates a "maybe" for a start.

I have the same as you plus GeForce FX 5700 w/128 DDR 1gig of RAM. Vista
Home Premium runs very nicely on it. With HT turned on or off Vista still
run nicely

Yes, that's exactly what I have. I get a 5.2 performance index score.

I said they are not an issue because they seemed right to me! I was
asking about a system I was thinking of buying from eBay and wanted to
check on the CPU only.

again, thank you all for the info. I think I am am going to go ahead
and buy that system off of eBay, it looks like a good deal to me. BTW,
it is listed here;

if anyone cares to give me a feedback on it. The price looks right,
especially with the included LCD.

Runs fine. I'm not getting rid of my P4 3.0Ghz HT on my desktop for as long
as I can keep it. It beats out my husband's Core2Duo every time.

Alan

Everything looks good on that system, including the price.

You might want to check a couple of things with the seller.
1. Which version of Vista will he install? The versions are not created
equal.http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/features/detai...

2. Which model number is the ATI Radeon graphics card?
Any model less than the Pro 9600 for the standard radeon card will not give
you the Vista features, like Aero.

Ronnie,

Thank you for taking the time. These newsgroups are a great learning
tool, I'll be using them more often and hopefully contribute to them
some day, unfortunately, it is not going to be in computers!

Anyway, this system has the Radeon Xpress 200 according to the owner
and it also comes with the Vista Home premium.

Thanks Cari, from all the good reviews I am getting, I think I am
going to go for it.
