Peer to Peer with Workgroups Missing

B

Bob

I am running Windows 2000 with a Peer to Peer network
using workgroup. One to the computers will access the
network but when you look for the workgroup on that
machine the computer says "workgroup not accessable"
and "The list of servers for this workgroup is not
currently available" The result is that the other
computers on the network cannot access this computer. I do
have the proper protocalls installed. Any ideas on finding
the workgroup?

Thanks
Bob

Hi Bob...

Proper protocols? What would those be?

I mentioned the protocols since I thought they may have
been the problem since the computer I am talking about is
still able to see the Internet over the network but it
cannot see or be seen by the other computers on the
network. The protocol for the Internet is TCP/IP and the
Client For Microsoft Networks is set on Windows Locator
which I beleive is NetBEUI or a function of it.

Thanks for your reply.
I appreciate your help.

You need:
Client for Microsoft Networks
File and Printer Sharing
TCP/IP - If you want to be able to browse, then you need to enable NetBIOS
over TCP/IP

You do not need:
NetBEUI

If each computer has it's own user account, then you need duplicates for
each account on each computer.

How close or far are you from this setup?

Right Click on My Network Places, right click the Local Area Connection icon for the network, select Properties, highlight TCP/IP and click on Properties, click on Advanced, select the WINS tab and there you have it. Make your selection, click OK and reboot the workstsation.
