Peer to peer shares not reconnecting at logon

Hi

2 W2K Pro machines, both in the same workgroup - same IP network. Can ping by hostname, IP address etc.

Each machines has the identical user and password. Machine 1 has a share that machine 2 needs to connect to at bootup

Problem is that machine 2 hangs when trying to connect to the share on machine 1. It gets stuck with the message "Reconnecting to \\servername\sharename". When it finally times out, My Computer reports a red X through the mapped drive, however when you click on the drive, the share opens up with no problems

I need this to work... deadline approaching. I am MCSE for NT4 and 2000 and I can't figure this out, never seen it before

Thanks

The same result occurs. There is no difference whether I
map with \\servername\sharename or \\ipaddress\sharename.
The server is using a static IP address.

Also, I recall that I should be able to "see" both
machines users in the users folders and should be able to
grab users from either machine to put them into groups.
Isn't that correct? I can only access local users from
each machine.

Thanks in advance for your input....
