I am running Windows XP Professional with Office Professional XP. I have a
built in 10/100 Lan Port on NF7S-v2.0 mb running latest bios (24).

I recently ran the network setup wizard and selected the "I am not currently
connected to a network setting" since I do not have another PC connected
yet. I do have built in LAN plugged into Linkseys 10/100 hub and I will
hook up another PC to that with 10/100 Linkseys card installed shortly as
soon as I get XP Home reloaded on that PC.

I use a 56k dial up modem to connect to the internet. My question is,
should I have selected the "this PC is connected to the internet directly
and other PC's connect to internet thru this PC" option--even though the
other PC is not plugged in yet? Should I rerun the wizard and select that
option so it assigns a static IP? I was not sure if this would work without
another PC plugged in?

Any info would be appreciated--I do not know much about networking.

I also want to share printers that are connected to the first PC--is this a
problem or do I need special hardware (another hub of sometype)?

It doesn't matter - you can rerun the Netowrking wizard a
t any time

No, you do not need any hardware. Right click on the
printer and click sharing, and share the printer. The
other PC should auto detect it, if not just run the Add
printer wizard and browse to the PC with the printer.

Thanks for the prompt reply! It seems that my internet connection is
working OK for now so I guess I will get to work on loading the other PC and
connect it before I rerun the Network setup wizard.

Once you have the basic LAN connections set up it will probably be as
easy to make any needed adjustments in Network connections, by
r-clicking the connection and adjusting in Properties

If you have a separate connection from one machine to the Internet, and
intend to share it with the other over the LAN using 'Internet
connection Sharing', then the start point will be on that Internet
connection, its Advanced page, to check the 'share this' box. That will
then enforce the IP address 192.168.0.1 on the connection to the other
machine, so might as well start off with that anyway
