I am running Windows XP Professional with Office Professional XP. I have a
built in 10/100 Lan Port on NF7S-v2.0 mb running latest bios (24).
I recently ran the network setup wizard and selected the "I am not currently
connected to a network setting" since I do not have another PC connected
yet. I do have built in LAN plugged into Linkseys 10/100 hub and I will
hook up another PC to that with 10/100 Linkseys card installed shortly as
soon as I get XP Home reloaded on that PC.
I use a 56k dial up modem to connect to the internet. My question is,
should I have selected the "this PC is connected to the internet directly
and other PC's connect to internet thru this PC" option--even though the
other PC is not plugged in yet? Should I rerun the wizard and select that
option so it assigns a static IP? I was not sure if this would work without
another PC plugged in?
Any info would be appreciated--I do not know much about networking.
I also want to share printers that are connected to the first PC--is this a
problem or do I need special hardware (another hub of sometype)?
