peer to peer networking

i have recently installed a belkin router/wswitch o share my cable connection with 2 computers at home
Access to the internet from both computers works fine
however i also wish to setup up a peer to peer network
i have installed networking on both computers
on the computer which has a wireless connection to the router/switch i can see the other computer fine
on the computer which used to have a direct connection to the cable modem but which now plugs into the belkin router/switch via rj45 able i CANNOT see the other computer. The workgroup name is the same on both computer
In fact when i go to my network places on this computer it says that networking is not installed
I get a message "unable to browse the networ
The network is not presnet or not started

on network setup ..... choose this computer connects to the internet thru a
residential gateway for all of the computers on your network this should
bridge your wired and wireless local network ..
