Peek-A-Boo Shared Contact

G

Guest

User A's default contacts folder is shared by User B & User C. Both have
full control permission to the contact folder. User B can locate a specific
contact (e.g. Jane Derf) by using the find command. User C cannot locate the
same contact by either viewing the contact folder, or by using the find or
advance find. Both users can access the contacts folder, and manipulate the
other contacts. Both User B's & User C's Outlook status bar indicates there
are 1492 contacts in the contact folder. Simply put User C cannot locate the
contact.

As exchange administrator, even I cannot locate the peek-a-boo contact from
my workstation. On User B's workstation, I have located the contact, opened
it and successfully change something then saved it.

Dear Customer,

Thank you for posting here.

Before we go further, in order to get a more concrete idea as to what the
exact problem is and how to resolve it efficiently, please let me know the
following information.

1. Please let me know whether the contact like Jane Derf which cannot be
located by User C and Administrator is a new one created by User B.

If so, the issue may be caused by the following cause. When User B creates
contacts in his Outlook XP, the changes will not be updated to the Exchange
Server as soon as creating. So in another assistant Outlook Client Side, he
cannot see the update. Based on current situation, you can try the
following test.

In one of the assistants Outlook side, create a new contact, then press
Send/Receive button to synchronize the changes to Exchange Server. Then in
boss and another assistant side, please verify whether the new-created
contact appears.

2. Does the User A ¨C the owner of the mailbox can see the contact Jane
Derf in his own Outlook?

3. Please install the latest Service Pack for Outlook 2000/XP for all
users.

Please let me know the results so that I can provide further assistance on

day!

The contact is not new. It was created about four days before this situation
occurred. User B (Windows 2000 Pro / Outlook XP) created the contact.

User A (the owner of the mailbox) (Windows 2000 Pro / Outlook XP) can see
the Jane Derf contact.

All Outlook XP are patched only to sp1. Sp3 has been downloaded, but not
installed.

User B had added the contact, and marked it private. User C and Sys Admin
did not have the permissions to view private contacts. Case closed. Oh Yes,
User B has added hundreds of contacts marked private. She has a fun task
finding them, amoung 1492 contacts and removing the private check.

Thanks All

Hi Customer,

Thanks for your reply.

Considering current situation, first please install the latest service pack
for all the Outlook XP clients. And in order to verify the issue, please
follow the steps below.

1. Please create a new user called User D with new mailbox in Exchange
Server, and then let User A - the owner of the mailbox grant delegate
permission to this new User D. Then verify whether the issue appears in
this new user.

2. Also create a new user called User E with new mailbox in Exchange
Server, then let User E grant delegate permission to User B and User C.
Then let User B log his mailbox, create a new contact in User E's Contact
Folder, wait for the completion of the synchronization, then verify whether
User C can see the new-created contact in User E's mailbox.

3. Please create a new Outlook Profile for User B by the article below,
then add User A' mailbox again, and verify whether the issue disappears.

I look forward to your reply. If there is anything unclear, feel free to
let me know. Thanks and have a nice day!
